

MICE, special event , dan industri halal merupakan tiga kue besar yang potensial mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi baru di ibukota. Kuncinya pada pengelolaan dan ketersediaan payung hukum.
Jakarta, sebagai ibukota negara, jelas memiliki fasilitas lengkap sebagai tempat perhelatan berbagai kegiatan MICE. Mengacu data Kementerian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif (Kemenparekraf) Jakarta memiliki fasilitas convention center seluas 50 ribu meter persegi, ruang eksibisi seluas 51 ribu meter persegi, 996 kamar hotel, ballroom seluas 3,8 ribu meter persegi, 25 special event venue , 19 golf course, 6.493 restoran, dan 85 area perbelanjaan
Bermodal keberagaman fasilitas tersebut, Jakarta sangat menarik bagi wisatawan MICE. Walau harus diakui, Jakarta masih memiliki kekurangan, seperti kemacetan, lokasi hotel dan venue yang berjauhan, sampai kondisi politik yang tidak menentu. Sementara industri MICE ialah industri yang sangat sensitif.
Namun Pemerintah Provinsi (Pemprov) DKI menyadari potensi MICE untuk menggerakkan ekonomi ibukota. Terbukti Pemprov sedang menggarap peraturan gubernur tentang MICE. Pergub ini nantinya berisikan 'aturan main' tentang penyelenggaraan MICE di ibu kota.
Dengan ketersediaan venue untuk berbagai event , Jakarta juga potensial untuk mengembangkan special event.
Koordinator Jakarta Tourism Forum (JTF), Salman Dianda Anwar mengatakan, Jakarta membutuhkan perangkat hukum untuk kegiatan MICE dan special event bisa bertumbuh.
“Kami sedang mendorong adanya Pergub MICE dan Pergub Festival Sepanjang Tahun. Tujuannya supaya jelas ada kalender event tahunan supaya para asosiasi bisa bersiap karena sudah tahu kalender event -nya,†terang Salman dalam perbincangan Podcast yang tayang di kanal YouTube MICE Indonesia.
Kue besar ketiga datang dari industri halal. Berdasarkan data Global Islamic Finance Report, total pengeluaran masyarakat dunia untuk makanan, kosmetik, pariwisata, dan gaya hidup halal pada 2020 sampai 2021 mencapai 2,02 triliun dolar AS. Angka tersebut meningkat dibanding tahun-tahun sebelumnya.
Dengan jumlah populasi penduduk muslim besar di negeri ini, Indonesia jelas menjadi pasar industri halal yang menjanjikan. Potensi industri halal juga menjadi peluang bagi industri MICE.
Intinya, untuk menggerakkan sumber ekonomi baru, Jakarta sudah punya sumber dayanya, tinggal bagaimana pemprov menyiapkan payung hukumnya dan pelaku industri mengelolanya.

MICE as the New Source of Income in Jakarta
MICE, special events, and the halal industry are three big cakes with massive potential of pushing Jakarta's economy further. The key lies in the management and availability of regulations.
Jakarta, as the capital city of Indonesia, is equipped with numerous facilities as a place for various MICE events. Based on the data from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Jakarta has a total area of 50,000 square meter of convention centers, 51,000 square meter of exhibition venues, 996 hotel rooms, 3,800 square meter of ballrooms, 25 special event venues, 19 golf courses, 6,493 restaurants, and 85 shopping centers.
With a plethora of facilities, Jakarta is very attractive to MICE tourists. However, it still has several drawbacks, like traffic congestion, huge distance between hotels and venues, and uncertain political situations despite the fact that MICE is a very sensitive industry.
Despite that, the provincial government of Jakarta realizes the potential of MICE in improving the city’s economy, and they are constructing a governor’s regulation on MICE. This regulation will serve as a guidance on MICE organization in the cosmopolitan city.
Thanks to the availability of venues for various types of events, Jakarta also has a potential to develop special events.
Coordinator of Jakarta Tourism Forum (JTF), Salman Dianda Anwar, said that Jakarta needs a legal component to support the growth of MICE and special events.
“We are pushing the process of MICE and yearly festival governor’s regulations. The purpose is to have a clear yearly event calendar so associations can prepare themselves based on the data,†explained Salman in our podcast on MICE Indonesia’s YouTube channel.
The last big cake is the halal industry. According to data from Global Islamic Finance Report, the total global expenses for halal foods, cosmetics, tourism, and lifestyle reached up to 2,02 trillion USD from 2020-2021.
With a large muslim population, Indonesia surely becomes a promising market for the halal industry. This potential also brings an opportunity for the MICE industry.
Essentially, to start a new source of income, Jakarta has got all that it takes. What needs a little more work is how the government prepares legal support and how the industry players manage it.
